Becoming a complete and balanced therapist in 2016

2016 is the year of change and completion; its numerology number is 9 and this signifies the end of a full cycle and the beginning of a new one – HOW EXCITING!

We have decided to use gemstones as our inspiration for the year. Gemstones and crystals have been used in treatments and in spas for years and what better way to celebrate our awesome profession than to highlight the wonders of these gems and their properties; such as luck, health and prosperity.

Over the past couple of years I have done a lot of research, been taught a lot by other people in and out of the industry and from that have developed a 12 step to becoming a complete 100% therapist. I am going to be imparting these “pearls of wisdom” (excuse the pun – hehehehe) to you on a monthly basis; along with our regular streams of information, I hope you enjoy them.

January’s stone is the garnet and this signifies friendship and trust. So I am going to kick it off with Trust in yourself – AMBITION

  1. Ambition – trust in your ability completely

Everyone started somewhere do not get down on your self if you have just qualified or are in the process of moving up in your position. The only guarantee in this life is that you will make mistakes. Take it on the chin and soldier on ensure you always stick to your ambitions and achieve all your goals.

It all starts with believing in and selling yourself; if you believe you are good enough and worthy of success it will come.

See yourself as successful.

Always remember that your inner world reflects your outer world.

You will become what you think about most of the time.

So SUCCESSFUL THOUGHTS = SUCCESSFUL LIFE.

Have goals, work towards them every day and reach them.

Have a game plan, a solid and tangible one for instance make yourself a vision board and make sure you look at it everyday so you can start realizing your dreams. If you can dream it you can achieve it!!!

Ask yourself how much do you need every month to be ok or more (wink wink)?

Divide that by the amount by the amount of days you work and set your own personal targets per day.

So for e.g. I want to earn R20 000.00 / month

My basic is R4000.00

So R20 000.00 – R4 000.00 = R16 000.00

Then we/ R16 000.00 by 22 days (the amount of days you work in a month) = R727.27 per day

My commission is 10% on retail and services so my target per day is R7272.72

/ 8hrs in a day

= R909.09 per client.

Now you know what you need to do with every client –  you have a clear goal and you on the road to realizing your dreams. You will watch your ambitions becoming a reality before your very eyes.

Make the decision to be the best and don’t settle for anything less – EVER!!!!

I qualified as a Somatologist in JHB in 2001. I began my career in the spa industry working on cruise ships for Steiner Transocean. I furthered my studies on my return to SA qualifying in advanced make up and special effects. I then moved to London where I worked in 2 of the most prestigious spas. I acquired knowledge in all aspects if the spa business and moved quickly from hands on therapy to part of the management team. When I finally came back to South Africa to settle for good I joined the management team of the Spas of Distinction where I grew my skill set even further and established a professional network throughout the South African Spa Industry. It is here where my roots are now deep seated and where I will remain for good. I started Spa Sense in 2010 and we have grown from strength to strength every year since then; forming key relationships with all the industry specialists. I head up the consultancy division of Spa Sense and run many of our training courses including Front Office, SOPs and Spa Sales and Retail. I also oversee our recruitment division making sure that all my clients and candidates expectations are always exceeded by the level service they receive from my team. I am incredibly passionate about what I do and hope I remain blessed enough to be in this exciting industry forever.
