Becoming a complete and balanced therapist

SO on the quest to become a complete and balanced therapist in 2016 we find ourselves in March….ALREADY!!!!!! As quickly as this year is fleeting so is this month and I must apologize for a delay in getting this installment out.

Our journey brings us to the month of eternal youth and hope – the month of the Aquamarine. The stone that is the color and clarity of the sea, the treasure of mermaids and the talisman of sailors who believed it to bring them good luck and happiness. Everything I have read about this stone sends my mind straight back to fairy tails and stories I was read when I was a child. I’m transported to my youth and I am so excited to be alive.

Desired effect – check!

Youth lives on hope – the hope that no matter what, everything will be ok. In youth we have the ability to be bold and not worry about what will be said about us. We can dance in the rain – and not worry about the consequences. We can just LIVE in the moment – with reckless disregard and make sure you don’t miss a thing!!!

And this is what later in life our memories are made of.

So lets live life and experience every thing it has to offer in techni color EVERYDAY. Drink it all in; all the time – large and small, wild and quiet make sure you are really living your life.

Now I’m not saying live fast and be drunk all day every day.; your bank balance nor your livers will cope. The point I’m trying to make is that we cannot forget in our youth we have to prepare for later life too. Yes, we want to lay down to die with rich memories of mad and crazy times. But we want to lay down in a nice bed in a nice house and we cannot get this if we do not work hard and grow wise by continually learning. Plot your course and stick to it.

Always have a plan and be sure you stick to it and never stop learning. We can live youthfully by always learning.

Its is said that;

So; don’t become stagnant.

  • Read
  • Listen to audios
  • Know what is happening in the industry
  • Be informed and get involved in associations and networking events.

Life is an adventure – go live it – but plan for the future and work hard to make an awesome opportunities for your self.

I qualified as a Somatologist in JHB in 2001. I began my career in the spa industry working on cruise ships for Steiner Transocean. I furthered my studies on my return to SA qualifying in advanced make up and special effects. I then moved to London where I worked in 2 of the most prestigious spas. I acquired knowledge in all aspects if the spa business and moved quickly from hands on therapy to part of the management team. When I finally came back to South Africa to settle for good I joined the management team of the Spas of Distinction where I grew my skill set even further and established a professional network throughout the South African Spa Industry. It is here where my roots are now deep seated and where I will remain for good. I started Spa Sense in 2010 and we have grown from strength to strength every year since then; forming key relationships with all the industry specialists. I head up the consultancy division of Spa Sense and run many of our training courses including Front Office, SOPs and Spa Sales and Retail. I also oversee our recruitment division making sure that all my clients and candidates expectations are always exceeded by the level service they receive from my team. I am incredibly passionate about what I do and hope I remain blessed enough to be in this exciting industry forever.
