Thalgo; La beaute marine – An experience to recall….

Ok, so it’s only March but I feel like I need a holiday already… Easter holidays could not come quick enough. This year has been so chaotic and I feel like it should be November already! BUT luckily it isn’t and there is so much more of 2016 to experience and discover and thanks to the amazing suppliers and product houses that make up the most integral part of this exciting industry I have been given an extension to my year.

SET THE SCENE…So I sit down in front of my computer and I read my emails and I have received an email from Marine Spa Distributors, Thalgo (one of the most prestigious and well known brands in South Africa and internationally) This email is a invite to experience one of their signature rituals – I’m in!!!!

So in the midst of the craziness of 2016 I am transported to a place of peace and quiet and I’m reminded that I seriously am one of the luckiest people and I really work in one of the best industries in the world.

What a treat I was in for…..I was spoiled by Elaine – a true ambassador of the Thalgo brand, to a Polynesian beauty ritual.

Now I must admit that for some reason even though I have been solidly rooted in this industry for over 15 years my path had not crossed with that of Thalgo since I was in college and after this incredible treatment I was seriously upset that this had worked out in this way.

I was literally taken on a journey through Polynesia – a much needed holiday…

My journey began with a stopover in Taha’s vanilla island – a beautiful full body exfoliation using coconut shells, bora bora white sand, marine salt and vanilla.

Then to Mani-hi – to soak in a bath filled with “lagoon water and essential oils”

Bora Bora was next – a sense awakening massage using sand pouches on water cushions to re-establish the circulation of energy and deep muscle relaxation left me floating off into the stratosphere.

Raiatea completed my journey – The Tiare Apetahi flower is native to this island and is used by its women for its all manner of healing properties. This is the scent that is infused into the Tahitian monoi oil that completed my experience. My body was embalmed in a feather light, golden, sparkling oil that made me feel and smell like I’d stepped off a Tahitian beach and  thanks to this amazing treatment I’m re-set and ready to attack the rest of this year as if I’d been on a cruise and 10 day holiday to the magnificent of islands of Polynesia.

What a treat by an amazing person who is living and breathing the brand she is working for – Thank you Elaine, Thalgo and Marine Spa Distributors – You have really re-established your brand in my mind and I am so excited to tell all my clients about the amazing experience I received.

I qualified as a Somatologist in JHB in 2001. I began my career in the spa industry working on cruise ships for Steiner Transocean. I furthered my studies on my return to SA qualifying in advanced make up and special effects. I then moved to London where I worked in 2 of the most prestigious spas. I acquired knowledge in all aspects if the spa business and moved quickly from hands on therapy to part of the management team. When I finally came back to South Africa to settle for good I joined the management team of the Spas of Distinction where I grew my skill set even further and established a professional network throughout the South African Spa Industry. It is here where my roots are now deep seated and where I will remain for good. I started Spa Sense in 2010 and we have grown from strength to strength every year since then; forming key relationships with all the industry specialists. I head up the consultancy division of Spa Sense and run many of our training courses including Front Office, SOPs and Spa Sales and Retail. I also oversee our recruitment division making sure that all my clients and candidates expectations are always exceeded by the level service they receive from my team. I am incredibly passionate about what I do and hope I remain blessed enough to be in this exciting industry forever.
